Escapee park Texas

Crossed into texas at 08:05am May 27, 2008... Stopped for gas once and came stright to RV park, walked dogs, signed in, set up and now bored out of my mind.. only 3pm... YaHoo!! So much fun, did not like this place the first time and do not like it now. Only thing it is good for to to set up for my taxes... Once that is done if I never come here again it will be too often.. Oh yah did I mention no television or internet hook ups??? I am using my new AT&T unit, if not for that I would really go crazy here... Sitting outside to stay cool, because it is better then inside the trailer at this time...

Hope I can get things done tomorrow and be done with it and at least be able to relax until Sunday when I leave to return to the boat.. This is the first time I can recall wanting to go back to the boat over staying home, but then again what home???

Cat Scare

Today should have been a boring drive day; however one of our cats gave us a scare. Nothing happened during the drive, however when we pulled into the RV park for the night, we could not find our little friend P.I.A. (Pain in ass). All we could think of was she escaped at the Flying J this morning and we did not notice. We looked everywhere we could think of with no luck. Started talking about ways to put out the word we wanted her back if found.

After about 2 hours with the cool air running, she came out of hiding to get something to eat. We were happy and also mad as heck to see her. Still no clue were she hide, but life is good and the world is once again right.

Exit Stage Right

Today we said our goodbyes and pulled away from the farm.

Got up early ( for us ) and started cleaning the RV and packing it for travel. Just about half way done a god friend came to say goodbye and wish us well. During the goodbyes we all started to cry, guess we will miss some things after all.

Once we finished packing, cleaning and tieing things down we hooked up, checked the systems, and pulled out.

Opps... went left out of the drive and got stuck, too tight a turn with the trailer. We stopped traffic for a spell, by blocking both lanes... Had to use 4 wheel drive and reverse the trailer back into the drive way, digging a six inch deep 10 foot long tranch. Guess you could say we left our mark after all...

Okay NOW... after allowing traffic to clear we did exit stage RIGHT this time and we are on our way.

Crossed the state line leaving Kentuckey at 11:42 A.M. Eastern time....

Fueled the truck and ourselfs at a Flying j in Tenn, and spending the night in a second flying J in Ar.. ( fueled again ) Only problem was for a short time it looked as if the engine was going to overheat, but luck was on our side and all turned out well. Did just under 400 miles today, and more then happy with that. Only getting about 7 miles to the gallon on fuel and not real happy about that...

Now to see what tomorrow brings.

Auction Day

The day started with overcast skies and it looked like it might rain, but that soon cleared and folks started arriving for the auction. A church group set up and ran the food and drinks for the whole thing.

We had several surprises; Music cd’s and movies do not sell well at an auction. Figure we got about 2 cents on a dollar from all of the cd’s. Then again we sold an old hammock, chainsaw, and pump for more then we paid new, not a bad deal.

We know over 99 people showed up because one item sold to the person holding number 99. It was a mixture of people, some we knew and many that we did not. Some good friends showed up not only to by but to say goodbye. We never knew how many people in the area liked us until we sold the place, how sad is that.

Now we will hook up and travel to new places seeing different things. I hope we can stop here again to see friends when passing close. Time will tell what happens..

Setup For Auction Day

Time just keeps on moving on. Today was getting ready for the Auction this Saturday.
Also means people dropping by to check things out before Saturday and that means our walks to and from the road are just about a thing of the past.
Always knew we had a lot of stuff, but when it was put out on display it sure looks like a lot more then we expected. Today alone we had five or six people come by just to check things out to see if it was worth the trip Saturday. We think we will have a good number of people but one can never tell.

New Owners Arrived

May 16,2008

The new owners arrived today, it truly hit me, we are leaving the farm. I have decided that I will start looking for a small place of my own, mostly for investment, but also so that I know I will always have a place I can call my own. Find I have a wish to own something I can once again call my own.

The barn is now full of the new owners’ things, and it is still a week until auction, this is going to be a long week… I find that for the first time that I can recall, I am looking forward to returning to the boat. I really enjoyed the farm, so without that the boat may not look so bad… After all at least on the boat I have a small space that I can call my own.

Took photos of the owners kids, and some birds, also our dogs saying goodbye to Bear, the dog next door. I will miss the evening walks and bird sightings…

This will have to wait until I can find out why the internet is not working tonight.. My bet is something was played with by the young boys today.. Who really cares…
PS... Cable was off a modem.. Wonder How??

From 2000 Sq Ft to 300 Sq Ft in Five years

Amazing just five years ago we lived in a 2000 Sq Ft home and are now living in a fifth wheel that is just over 300 Sq Feet. It is interesting how many things we collect over the years that we think we need. Having moved several times in tha past few years, each time ridding myself of more "things", I have found I can live very nicely on what some would call very little.

I need my best friend, pets, food, cloths, and a roof to sleep under. Once that is done then some extra cash to play with is fun..

Pictures on this posting show the dogs and cats are having no problems with the space restrictions. Also some outside shots of the farm that was just sold,

of course the dogs are in them......

LOL...

So life in an RV begins, time will tell how it all works out, but to me it is just another road in the adventure we call life. Better to try something and not like it then to dream and never do.

Going Full Time For Real...

Well it has been decided, we will be going full time RVing. The farm is sold and we are just waiting for the finale Auction to take place before heading down the road. The new owners will arrive sometime this week, so we have already started living in the fifth wheel. We do not have to leave until the 5th of June, but should be gone before that.

Moving into the trailer has shown us just how much stuff we have that we have not used in years. So at least from my side I am happy to rid myself of the junk and get down to just what I need, Not much as it turns out….

When we leave here I am not sure were we will go, I have to be back to work in the gulf on the 2ed of June so it all depends when we can break free. If time permits we go to Houston TX., if pressed for time will go to New Orleans ( N.O. is departure point for me ).. Have plotted both drives and stops so it is not mostly a waiting game until the Auction on the 24th.. Then it will be truly full time..
