Excellent Day

Woke up early and took off to Rockwall Tx, why??? Because the bike store I wanted to visit is there. As luck would have it I arrived at 09:30 but the store did not open until 10:00. Oh well, just had to do some window shopping at Targets and a few small shops at the strip mall well waiting.

Once I made it into the bike shop I talked with the young man running the place about bikes and what I wanted in one. After looking at four or five Townie bikes I decided on the one I wanted and also had a basket added so I could carry a few things when needed. Thing I really like about the Townie is how you can sit back to ride and do not feel like you have to stand up to peddle.  Also has a nice wide seat for us old lazy folks that are not into racing.

Nice and shiny

Back was black when I started, wish I had taken a before shot.

Notice the bottle.... LOL...
Now back at the house and relaxing after washing a good portion of the RV, hope to finish it tomorrow. For now going to have a glass of wine , sit back and enjoy the weather.

Lawn Care

Waiting for furnace repair to return and fix house furnace, so mowed the lawn as I waited. Hope this is the last time I ride a mower and not get paid for it.

Can you see the stepping stones?

Almost hated having to mow this part of the yard

Now I see the stepping stones

I think the place looks nice now

Proud to fly both flags

New day more problems

Okay, first thing this morning the furnace repair man shows up. At first we thought he might be able to repair the unit but once he opened the main power panel of the unit it became obvious it was history. So we are looking at between $1,700 and $1,800 to replace the unit so we have a working unit on house inspection day. Hoping he can rearrange his schedule to get back today and get "R" done. Notice fourth fuse down is totally fried all wires have been melted to some degree.

Fun never stops

Another fun filled day at the house from hell.  Thought today I would strip and clean the RV from top to bottom. Unfortunately about half way I had to stop and change directions, seems I needed to sign papers and find someone to repair the furnace before Monday when the house inspector will be here. Agent did not answer the phone so I drove into town to find out what was going on, she was not in but another lady was able to call her and find the papers I needed to sign after only 30 min or so.  Then drove back to the house from H*** and spent the rest of the afternoon looking for a repair person, found one and called them   5 min before closing.  So now I have to hang out at the house all day tomorrow no matter what hoping someone shows up.  Did finish putting together a BBQ thing, and mowed half the yard. Hope to have my bed ready before midnight so I can get some sleep. As of 9pm still washing next to last load due to lost time.

Busy Busy Day

Talk About A Busy Day

WOW.. Ran around all day today. First it was to the Post Office to arrange to have the mail restarted at this address and not sent to Livingston. Second thing was to drop Spencer off at the groomer and have his fur shortened for the summer. Did not have it cut all the way only did what is called a level 3, level 5 is what we used to get that he had problems with. have to see if this works okay or not. Next off it was shopping for supplies ( food ) to make a stew ( beef, pork, and lamb ) also making another chicken Chili. Once done all will be frozen for later use when on the road.Had to charge the Mower so we could start it and get the place looking good again. Once it started noticed a flat tire ( what is this flat tire and me stuff ) so off to the store looking for some fix it, and a new running light for the RV. Then decided to stop at home depot and get some wood to fix a hole in the RV from one of my blow outs.

Time to pick Spencer up at the groomer, he looks so cute... Seems okay with length of fur at the moment, will watch and see what happens.

Also found some vinyl wall base I think I can use to fix some trim in the RV. ( works okay but need to get some small white tacks.

Finished trim, running light, and both dishes are in crock pots... Now to pick a movie out and drink some Wine. ( after Spencer is feed )

Still lots to do on RV before I am ready to go out again.. Stop by again tomorrow for updates..

Lazy Day In Lockhart State Park

Doing nothing today except cleaning the RV, taking walks, naps, eating and reading. Photos on this page all taken today during my walks.

Back in Tree Country..

Pulled away from camp at first light and headed down the road looking for a Wal Mart and a fuel stop. Following the book " Next Exit " I left the Interstate at exit 505 only to drive around in circles, no Fuel station or Wal Mart.. Someone messed up on this one big time... So back on the Interstate for another 40 miles and BINGO, Wal Mart to restock food, and a gas station for fuel.

Leaving Wal Mart I went directly to Lockhart State Park, and checked in for two nights. Using the State Pass it was a cost of $27 for two nights. Plan to leave Saturday and stop in Lockhart for lunch of Smitty's BBQ.. It is rated in the top five of Texas bbq. Have to see if this is any better then what I have had in the past.

Once settled in at the park I took Spencer on a nature walk, we could hear wild Turkeys but for the longest time did not see any. Then right in front of us two ran out. Oh how I wish I had taken my good camera, the small one was able to get a shot or two but not very good. Then on the way back Spencer just laid down and called it a day. I had to carry him part of the way back or else we may not have made it back to the RV before night fall. LOL.. Poor guy tried so hard just could not do it..

He has since drank lots of water and passed out on the floor of the RV. Not sure he will be up for the evening walk or not..

Tomorrow Lockhart..

The time changes between Az, Nm, and now Texas has my sleepy schedule all messed up. Had problems sleeping last night, seemed like I would fall asleep only to wake up 30min later, this went on until around 3am when I finally went down for the count.

Today was lots of hill country and it showed on my gas milage, down to 9.2MPG today :(...

Stopped several times today just to get out and walk, both myself and the little guy. First stop was just a parking area that had an old "historic" building on it. Spencer thought it made for a great pee post, and proceeded to wet it down.

Had to stop for gas of course, could not believe the price some places are asking. Funny part is I filled up for $3.45 a gallon and across the street people were paying $3.54. This confuses me to no end at 9 cents a gal for 15 gals that is $1.35 extra each time you fill up. Even if you only fill up once a day that is what ? 7X1.35= $9.45 a week. I can get other stuff, like food for that price.

The last stop before getting to the RV park was a normal rest area and as you can see even a horse has to take a break from the road sometimes.

Now for my RV park for the night, best thing about it is the price. Using P.A. it cost 12.70 a night and not worth any more. So far I have the place to myself except for two empty trailers. It does have a restroom and shower, restroom is okay but think I will wait until tomorrow when I get to Lockhart to take a shower.

Internet connection is bad tonight so not sure when this will get posted.

Headed down the road, were will I go...

Had to pack up and hit the road today :.. ( time was up and the park is booked for the rally. Going to make it a point to go to the fall rally, I really like the people I had the pleasure of meeting. Now this is what I had always hope an RV group would be like. I can see having fun at a park for the first time..

Anyway what is with the cold and I do mean cold mornings?? Had to wear my winter coat when disconnecting electric and water today. Thought my fingers were going to come off when I dumped my tanks, but at least it was above freezing because my tanks did empty this time. ;)

So down the road I go not knowing which way to go, should I go north on the 25?, or East on the 10??? After driver for a spell I pulled over and filled my fuel tank and what a surprise... I got 11.57 MPG... YAHOOOOOO!!!! Not bad for an old 1992 motorhome. Before the oil change and tune up in Tucson I had an avg. of 8.2MPG, after Tucson I get an avg. of 10.5MPG. SO in the long run maybe I will get some of the money I spent back.

Decided to stay in the South a bit longer so stayed on the I-10 East. Guess I will head for Lockhart Tx and drop in for BBQ at one of the places I saw on food wars. For tonight I pulled over at a P.A. place off EXit 212 for the night. For $10 I get a place to stay, water, sewer, and electric. Once hooked up it was on the the AC, it is hot outside now... LOL... Park is a good overnight spot but not a place I would want to stay, in fact if it was not so windy I would have kept going.

As the photo shows I had the place almost to myself.. Only two other rigs here as of 6pm..

Time At Low Hi

My time at Low Hi Ranch is coming to an end after three days that went by at the speed of light. For the first time since I have been on the road I feel like I am at home. The way I was welcomed inn almost like family was the way it should have been when I first joined Escapees two years ago. In three short days I have made at least two new friends.

Time was spent walking Spencer, playing cards, taken photos of a road runner, and the new moon.

Last day was a Monday so it was potluck night. Talk about food.... We could have feed twice as many people..

Sort of wish I could stay for the rally starting Wednesday, but all slots are already taken..

Next stop on my list will be Lockhart Texas in hopes of visiting two BBQ places that were on food wars.

Back in Deming

Drove from Wilcox Az to Deming NM today. Stopped several times to walk the dog and just look around. One place I found cool was Exit 42 on I-10 in NM, it has a place to get tourist to stop and buy things. Best part of it was I know a place I can stop and boon dock it needed in that part of the country. The parking lot is large and mostly dirt so nobody will say anything. The other part I found interesting was the selling of Route 66 items, it is not anywhere close to the 66.. But it did have a cool Buick parked in fount. LOL...

Now back at the HiLow Ranch rv Park. When I left a little over a week ago temperature was below 30, today it is 102 outside. ( in the sun ) .. Going to stay for three nights so I can talk to some of the folks and try to socialize ( not my strongest point ) . Going to the 4pm Happy hour to see what is what.

Happy Hour was interesting, mostly it was about upcoming events and things to do starting next week. Thing is I will be leaving before any of it starts. I do hope to attend one event Monday at 10am a group is going to something called "the Boothill Movie Set" I will tag along and see what happens, it is a way to mix in and get to know some people.

Went and played cards for just over an hour, would have gone on longer but folks wanted to see the moon come up. It is as close to the earth as it gets.

So that is about it for today..
