Drove in Canada

Got up early and drove around some back roads around were I am staying... Here a some of what I saw, could not always stop so some of the best of what I got to see could not have a photo taken.

During the drive the one thing that I noticed was that when away from the city traffic was next to zero. I drove for over an hour at one point without seeing another car, truck, bike, or human.

Wish I could have found a place to pull over in downtown Calgary to take pictures, but it was bumper to bumper, and not a parking place that I could see. So wanted to walk around and check out the shops, maybe have a cup of tea at a place I passed twice..

Now back in my room after turning in the car, guess I will check email, then watch television until bedtime....

Class again

Back in class this week taken yet another course, as always it is a mixture of learning, games, and boredom. This class is called QHSE2 and is to help me understand and assist in implementation of polices, and standards. So far I believe I have learned a few things, even if I do not always agree with the method of teaching them. The morning goes by fast, but by 3 in the afternoon I start having problems keeping myself focused on the class, I have by then grown sick of sitting and need to walk around. One instructor will not mention his name can put me to sleep in a matter of a few moments...

We review using Jeopardy and so far my team is in last place and going strong... Who knows maybe we can do better tomorrow....

Off to Canada

Once again I am on the move this time flying to Calgary Canada to attained a class up in Airdrie for my job. Been years since my last visit to Canada, 1995 if I recall correctly. Cost has gone up money exchange is now $10.00 US for $9.50 CA, times have changed for the old dollar...

Never flown out of DFW for an international flight was not sure what to expect, turns out it was simple. Went to ticket counter for boarding pass, then through the security and at gate waiting 20 minutes after getting dropped off.

Plane took off only a few moments late and we landed in Calgary Canada almost on schedule, easy flight no problems.

Made it to the Ramada Hotel by taking a sedan that cost $55 Ca dollar, That is about $57.50 US.. Not a cheap ride... Now know I can return for only $25 Ca / 26.25 US.. by taxi service here in Airdrie..

Do have a nice room as the photos show... now to find food and get some rest...

Then when I get back I pack my bags to go back to the boat five days early. Learned Friday the 21st that our off time was getting cut short by 5 days...

Spent last three days working with Kay getting this place looking good.. What do you think???

Now wainting to find out if we get the FL place or not... All future plans depend on what happens..

Placed an offer

After all was said and done we placed an offer on the first place we looked at with the real estate agent.  Now we are waiting for word on if the offer will be accepted or not. The last place we looked at was only 45,000.... but it looked like termites had been feasting on the place for years. Shame because the place could have been turned into a great place for 30-40K.. ( without the termites )..  So we returned to #1 and checked it out a third time before placing the offer. This place can be made nice for about $10,000 more invested into fixing.  Will post photos of work as it gets done if we get the place, if we do not get it then we will just have to look yet again I guess.

Only photo today is of Mary our agent and Kay in fount of what may be our new home.

Just want to add a thank you to Mary for her assistance and patience in working with us. Anyone reading this that wants a good person to show them homes in the Tampa Bay area of FL, should find her..

House hunting for real???

Went looking at homes with a real estate agent, went to five homes, all under $120,000.
House number 1, asking $95,000 ( once sold at $200,000) Over all it is in pretty good shape, good floors, nice rooms, good kitchen, fenced yard for dogs, a Fl room ( not finished ). Down side is the outside has been allowed to go wild, will need to get a landscaper to come in and tame it back, and would even put them on contract to maintain the outside... Would also need someone to repair some wood damage on one side, and finish the FL room. Then before moving in would like a home cleaning service to come in and detail the place.

Only showing photos of this place because of the five we looked at it is the only one to make the cut. May still look at a few more before placing a bid, not sure at this time.

beach day two

Morning saw us take the dogs to the Fort De Soto Dog beach. Shelby played with us in the water, we got to see her fetch a toy and bring it back. Reason this is interesting is that for as long as we have had her ( four years plus ) she has never wanted to play fetch on land. But through something in the water and she goes after it. Was fun to see her having fun. Now Spencer all he wanted to do was stay at the chairs and hide..  Well that did not happen, we got him in the water by trick and carry.. Headed to pick up our laundry and take in a movie, the dogs should sleep for the afternoon..

Almost forgot we did see Dolphins at the beach, but the camera sort of stopped working so could not get good photos..

Dog Play

Today we found the dog beach, and for the first time Spencer went swimming in salt water.. Not sure if it was Shelby's first time or not.

Have been off the boat for a few days now, headed to Florida for a combination vacation relocate information. Except for the long drive days it has been okay so far. Nothing great to write home about yet, but nothing to really complain about either.  The three photos on this page show 1.  Kay in bed with our two traveling pals, Spencer and Shelby.  2. The truck parked in fount of a small bar and grill that we ate at that had the best Tuna fillet I have had to date.  The last was just a shot of interest, lady and her dog in a kayak paddling past us.
