Packed and pulled away from Tyler S.P. for the first day of travel to Idaho Falls, Idaho. Things went well leaving the park, we however did not eat breakfast and when we spotted a place that had a big enough parking lot we just had to stop. That brought up learning how to do a U-Turn in a small town, and how to hog space in a lot so as not to get boxed in. Food was good and we did not hit anything coming or going.
Not much to say about the drive, it was boring and that is good. Made it to the RV park we had picked out to stop at around 3:45pm. Now is when the fun started, no it started when we called to find out details on how to get in. Found out it is not as close to the Hwy as we had been told, and that no pull troughs available. Once we arrived it took us an hour to back in to a spot. We tried three spots before we found one that worked for us. Seemed like all the spaces were made for small rigs less then 30Ft... Well we made it so all is fine for the moment..
Day Two of our trip to Idaho took us out of Oklahoma into Kansas. We had hoped to have breakfast shortly after leaving the Park, but soon found out that the road we had taken did not have anyplace we could get into. It was not until we found a fast food place in a strip mall that we could get any food.
Once in Kansas we went off the planed route just to see what we could find, maybe save time if it worked. This also meant we did not know were we would stop for the night. As luck would have it we found a nice little place just off the I-135, a road we had not planed on taken. We made it to the park, and settled before 15:30. This gave us time to relax before dinner and time to shower before bed.
Well today the third day of the triped to Idaho was not much fun. Seems like we are only getting about 6.5 M.P.G. so are spending around $200. a day on fuel. WE are driving 55 to 60 so it is not from speed, checked all fluids and all looks good. Can not afford to keep up this spending level, it is eating up almost all of what I make.
Today was all interstate driving and the rest for the night is at a less then great RV park, but it is just for one night, so we will survive. Tomorrow I hope we make it to NE and a stop that we will stay at two nights.. I need a small break from the road and spending so much.
We just keep moving on, today Sunday July, 21st, we got up at 05:30. First thing after packing and leaving the park was to visit the next door Wal-Mart and get some gas cans ( two five gallons ) as back up for when we get low we do not have to worry so much about how far to the next gas whole.
Next we stopped for breakfast at a H.J. for the price it was okay. Then it was on the road to NE and Cabale's.. Shelby has lost some of her joy of riding all day in the back of the truck.
Took U.S. 385 north from the I-70, this road is lonely as all get out and it seemed like it took us forever to get to NE.
Once in NE we made our way to the RV site and settled in no problems, went to Wal-MArt and shoped for dinner and a few odds and ends. Hoping for a BBQ of ribs tonight but the wind is strong and we may not be able to do it.
Next we went to the Cabela's store and to be honest I just do not see what the big deal is. Bass World and LL Bean at 100% better by far. I was hoping to find a inflatable canoe to replace the one that I returned to Wal-Mart d/t a leak, but not one to be found in the store. Guess I will have to keep looking.
