Now At The City Of Rocks State Park NM

Not been feeling very good last week or so, I have Bronchitis and it has been acting up. The inhaler I was using for bad attacks has been taken off the market by our great Uncle Sammy... Ass Holes the whole lot.. Seems because it has CFC which is bad for the environment it can not longer be sold. Okay I might buy into that if not for the fact you can still buy spray paint, and other items ( non- medical ) with CFC. I guess it is more important to spray paint all the lawn furniture then it is to be able to fucking breath. So now I will be experimenting with home remedies found on the internet and any other place I can find. First will be a garlic, honey, and lemon mixture that has to ferment in the refrigerator  for two weeks. Picked up the stuff this morning and as of an hour ago it is in the refrigerator. Now time will tell if it helps.  In the mean time I drink lots and lots of black tea, no coffee, and hope I do not run out of Mucinex-DM.....  Also taken garlic pills.....  Looking for health food store to see is anything might be available....  Once again I have to thank old Uncle Sam.....  Dumb asses alll !!!!!!

Now that I have got that out, let me tell you about City of Rocks...Nothing but good things to say about City of Rocks State Park. About 30 miles north of Deming and about 30 miles south of Silver City, this is a wonderful secluded desert park in tucked away in the southwestern corner of New Mexico. The sunsets here are nothing short of spectacular. Looking west from many of the campsites, you can see 20 to 30 miles across the desert and watch the sun go down behind the surrounding low level mountains. Amazing skys at night and unparalleled sunsets... makes ocean sunsets tame. Very peaceful. Spectacular view of the night skies here as well. Nice bathroom and shower facilities near the park's visitor center were also a plus. The park was generally clean and well maintained. The rock formations were spectacular - hard to imagine they formed here naturally. City of Rocks State Park is a real gem in the wonderful state of New Mexico.

Just in case you can not guess, this is the entrance to the park.

Look close, can you see the rabbit?

No flowers this time of year...  :-(

See the bird???

Oops a flower... only one I did see..

My camp space is close to others because I wanted to stay warm and have electric.

I am hoping to hike all the trails here in the park then take a couple of day trips. I want to see Silver City NM, the Gila ruins, and the Catwalk National Trail. So I hope to stay busy for the next few weeks.. Only thing I do not like is the wind and that it will get so cold at night..

Back online with new WiFi device.

Busy day again today....  Ran into town to pick up my new WiFi unit, and had a nice surprise..  Because my old contract ran out I was up for an upgrade if I renewed for two more years, so instead of paying $227.00 for the new unit I payed $53.75...  Wait here is the good part, with the rebate that comes with the unit I get $50.00 back so only paying $3.75 for the unit, and my monthly bill drops by $10.00, and I pay a heck of a lot less for any time I go over...  So I will save money in the long run by doing this...  Not bad...

After taking care of my internet problem I checked out a couple of markets that sounded Mexican..  Poo.... no such luck...

Now back at camp rocking to the wind...  WInds in New Mexico are back same as last year... Crazy..

My MiFi Bites the dust

Running low on food so decided to take a trip into Deming ( 30 miles up the road ) and visit Wal Mart. On the way I stopped and toped off the gas and LP tanks. Once my shopping was done I decided to see if my Verizon MiFi network would work from the parking lot. Well guess what it did the same crap it was doing down in Columbus, would start to connect then drop off not allowing me to do anything..  Now it was time to find a Verizon dealership......

Seeing I could not get online to find a dealership I had to find a place that had a free hot spot first. This was easy just down the road I found a Best Western that allowed me online and in no time at all I had the address.. Only 1 mile away, Yah!!!!!

Walked in told them what was happing and after trying this and that ( things I had already done ) we agreed the card was fried ( gone bad )...  My two year contract just expired and the card I have is no longer sold so I will have to upgrade to a 4g card..  Did not want to go 4g yet because everything I have read is bad or at least not as reliable as the 3g.  But I do not see anyway around it, so tomorrow I go back in and get my new 4g card...

Staying at the LOW camp until Sunday to just relax and get things done. Do not think I will go back to Columbus again... Question is were to now...

New day in New Mexico

Sitting in Martha's Place having breakfast and using the internet, it is way to cold to sit outside the library were I have been going for internet connection. Never even left the rig yesterday because it was raining all day with very cold wind. Do not think it made it over 45 F yesterday Brrrrrrrrrrr.....  Today is clear and sunny but still way to cold for me, hoping it warms up this afternoon.

Not much to talk about today, have already walked all around the park and most of the town of Columbus. This is an okay place to spend time, but would have been better to be here first half of March. March is when most of the activities take place reenacting the raid that took place in March of 1916.

Now need to find some cheap online books to kill time when it is too cold to go out... Then if it warms up enough will open up the rig and clean it out...  Soooo much excitement....  Guess I should enjoy it now because from April to the end of the year I will be working....

You all have a great day now!!!!

Pancho Villa State Park New Mexico

First thing that come to my mind is that we named a State Park in the United States after a Mexican, be it bandit or hero. I would be interested to see if any parks are named after an American that invaded Mexico. I guess I will have to do some research on that one.

Short history of the park... it was an army post when Villa's men 485 strong crossed into the U.S. and attacked the city of Columbus from the southwest.
Looking into Mexico only three miles to the south. Terrain has not changed much since 1916.

The attack was at first a success for Villa, until the troops of the U.S. 13th Cavalry came into action. Once organized the soldiers were able to engage Villa's men and after a two hour fight drove them back to Mexico. This is a very short version of what took place for more information I suggest you visit

Year is lining up nicely

Last few days I have been on the internet checking available jobs for workampers. So far I have a volunteer position lined up for April and May working in a CARE center in Livingston texas. This position only offers free space so I will not be getting paid but will not be putting out any money for rent either so it is not a bad deal. Next year I will try to do this in Feb. and March to allow for better chance at a job that pays.

Second position is at  The Ranch at Ucross - Clearmont, WY, Not sure what I will be doing yet but have been hired to start June 6th until the end of Sept. This is a resort type of place that I normally would only be able to read about and not stay at. By working here I will be able to use the on-site amenities on my off days, I am hoping to go  river tubing hiking, fishing, swimming, and just some relaxing. For more information about the Ranch see the URL below...

Currently working on a position with Amazon.com from Oct to Dec in Campbellsville Ky. Sent in paper work today and now waiting to here back. So all in all it is looking like the rest of Feb and most of March belongs to me to play..

Hoping New England Patriots win the Super Bowl...  Guess I am like teams from Ma. did live in the state for first 19 years of my life.....   Gooooo Pats!!!!!
